The Pandas Are Coming!
Blizzard has finally announced a release date for the latest expansion of World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria – September 25, 2012. That is less than two months away! Holy cow! Guess Hedwig needs to kick her quest for Loremaster into gear!
Anyway, now that we have a definite date it’s time to start thinking about raid teams, raid times, etc. I really want to keep all of our existing raiders, but I want everyone to be happy in their role. Here is what we will need for raid: 2 tanks, 3 healers, and 5 dps. While we’re at it, let’s also look at raid composition. We’ll also need: replenishment, heroes, and a battle rez. Those are requirements. There are other buffs and bonuses that I’d like for us to have but those three are non-negotiable.
We currently have nine people on our team so I’m working on recruiting a healer. If you’re a healer and reading this blog post, please comment and we can chat. Also, I have added a chat box to my blog page for now (if it gets an abnormal amount of spam I’ll take it down). But for now, it’s there so please use it to chat about raiding, wow, music, or whatever floats your boat.
Thanks a bunch for visiting!

Wednesday Wallpaper – April 4, 2012
One of my friends commented on my last post that he liked my desktop wallpaper, so I thought I would share it with everyone and share a couple more wallpapers that I really like. I’ve put small pics on here, so the page won’t take forever to load. Just click on the picture for a link to the full-sized pic.
This is one from yesterday’s post. This is actually a World of Warcraft screenshot that I took on my main character, Hedwig. It was at the end of an epic quest chain, but I can’t remember now which one. It’s been a while. Most of my favorite desktop wallpapers come from WoW. Some are screenshots that I’ve taken, which seem to mean more to me and others are screenshots that others have done and submitted either to the WoW Screenshot of the Day pages, or to WoW Insider.
This one I randomly found on a site that my friend Tom told me about, How To Geek. The name of the website can be read two different ways, but either way I think it’s totally cool. I like this wallpaper because it looks like rain. I’ve been using it for about a month here at work, ever since I found it. Someone came by and saw it and thought it looked depressing, but I really like it. I love the rain, so that’s what made me seek out this background in the first place. To me it’s not depressing, it’s soothing. **Note: Please be careful when browsing the links on the How To Geek site. I had two pop-ups that would’ve installed spyware on my computer if I hadn’t closed them properly (from Task Manager – never click on the X in an unknown pop-up box).
Here is another WoW Screenshot that was my background for about a year (maybe more). I found it on the official WoW website and it seemed really fitting to me since my main character is a holy priest. I like it because I try not to look like this wallpaper in the game too much, LOL, so it’s neat to see it here. Holy Priests in their spirit form are really beautiful. Like Asa used say to say, we’re turn into a “pretty, pretty angel”, LOL.
Before I found the wallpaper above, I tried to create my own. I went to Feralas and found a very lush, green area because I thought it would make a good backdrop. Then I had to take off all my armor so the mobs there could actually damage me. Then find a mob and let it kill me. It was tricky getting it all accomplished and making sure that the mob in question wasn’t in the screenshot.
I would love to see some of your favorite wallpapers and/or screenshots. Please link to them in the comments or link to your own blog.
My Answer to BBB’s Writing Challenge
Bigbearbutt has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged his readers to write a “story, poem, dirty limerick or whatever” using the following words:
1. Juicy
2. Slender
3. Vain
4. Shaft
5. Torch
6. Star
7. Hidden
This challenge sounded like a lot of fun but due to the fact that I’m very behind on my blogging, I decide to take the challenge even further and see if I could use all seven words in just one sentence. It’s probably a little wordy as sentences go, but I asked the hubby (an English teacher) and he said it passes as a legitimate sentence.
Sarah’s hidden dream was to become a star, but she knew that those dreams were in vain and that the juicy stardom that she long held a torch for only had a slender chance of becoming a reality because life had given her the shaft.
Now I’ll spend the time that I would’ve otherwise spent writing a story to catch up on a little blogging of my own and I look forward to seeing what everyone else has come up with. If you’re a blogger and want to participate in BBB’s writing challenge it is not too late. You can find his original post here and the comments of this post should have links to all of the responses.
Please post your response as a comment on my site as well! I can’t wait to read them all.
The Guild: Season Five – Episode 1
The Guild has FINALLY released the first episode of their newest season! YAY!
Once, Twice, Three Times a Blogger
This is my third attempt at blogging. Three times a charm, right?
I have in the past made a blog and then after the first couple of blog posts the blogs just sort of fizzle out. I am hoping that doesn’t happen with this blog. In the past, I have tried two different types of blogs.
My first attempt at blogging was a blog strictly about World of Warcraft and my experiences with that. My second attempt was going to be a foodie blog with recipes, meal plans, etc. with the occasional mention of something technie. The best thing about this blog was the name “Grits and Gadgets” so moving forward I have decided to keep the name but throw out all pretense of format. This blog will be about me and whatever the heck I want to talk about. One of my favorite bloggers, Bigbearbutt, uses his blog in this way and I find it refreshing! Do I enjoy every single thing he posts about? No, not really (no offense John). But I do check his blog on a regular basis and I enjoy reading the vast majority of what he posts. I find his writing style entertaining and it keeps me coming back for more. That is what I hope to accomplish with this site.
I mentioned in guild chat one day that my ideal blog would be about the following: WoW, cooking, recipes, books that I’m enjoying, cute things my kid does, funny or idiotic things my students do, and just everyday things that I find fun. “Who would want to read about that?” I asked them. And Blackbear said, “I would” so, here you go BB! This blog post is for you!
